It is often a challenge for parents to find an educational, safe and fun place for their children once the school day has ended. Work schedules often make it difficult for parents to pick up their little ones or arrive home by the time the school bus arrives. District Six understands the challenges that often come with raising children. That is why we provide afterschool programs that offer families a healthy and safe environment for their children and even includes a daily nutritious snack for students. Though we offer a wide range of fun activities during these hours, we also believe these programs raise academic achievement through interventions and enrichment that are provided by certified teachers for ninety minutes each day. We currently have a total of 1259 students enrolled in the extended day programs in all 9 elementary schools. The Title I schools, Arcadia, enrollment 221; Bobo, enrollment 297; and Lone Oak, 194 offer afterschool and summer school at no cost to the students. Arcadia and Bobo also offer universal free supper daily. Fairforest Middle operates its extended day and summer program through a 21st century grant.
